John 2:1-4 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come."

No one could have guessed that the Messiah's first miracle would be to change water into wine. One could argue that there are certainly more noble signs of his divine identity and purpose-- like healing the sick, casting out demons or raising the dead. This first miracle was not even Jesus' idea-- it was his mother's-- and Jesus believed it was too soon to publicly reveal his true identity. So why did Jesus perform this miracle? Come and hear more this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
